A GROUP OF CITY RESIDENTS GOT TOGETHER AND FORMED FRIENDS OF FRANCIS PARK (FOFP), A 501(C)(3) CORPORATION, TO HELP FUND AND IMPLEMENT IMPROVEMENTS IN FRANCIS PARK. FOFP WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION, OUR ALDERPERSON AND THE CITY PARKS DEPARTMENT. FOFP IS FUNDED THROUGH PRIVATE CONTRIBUTIONS AND THE NET PROCEEDS FROM THE ANNUAL RUN FOR THE HILLS AND FOOT GOLF. IT HAS NO PAID EMPLOYEES. THE CITY PARKS DEPARTMENT AS WELL AS OUR 16TH WARD ALDERPERSON HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN ALL OF OUR DISCUSSIONS ABOUT PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS OR FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES IN THE PARK AND MUST APPROVE ANY IMPROVEMENTS OR ACTIVITIES PROPOSED BY FOFP BEFORE THEY ARE IMPLEMENTED OR SCHEDULED.

With grateful hearts, we are committed to educating the community on the vital needs of specialty pediatric resources for congenital heart defects and cancer, while assisting families affected by these terrible illnesses both financially and emotionally.
The Cañon City Geology Club is a non-profit educational club operating since 1928. Our mission is to: 1) Increase member knowledge of the earth sciences pertaining to minerals, gems, rocks, artifacts, and fossils. 2) Promote and perpetuate knowledge of the lapidary arts. 3) Encourage field trips. 4) Study the earth sciences particularly of geology and mineralization in place. 5) Encourage greater public interest and education in minerals, gems, and fossils by cooperating with local educational institutions with presentations of local mineral specimens and with examples of lapidary art.
