This May we are showing our appreciation to a variety of causes and people around the world. Take a look at these ways to give back through your business and don’t forget to add them to your event invitations on Evite to party with a purpose!

May 5th - 144th Annual Kentucky Derby

“The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” doesn’t have to end after the race. Keep the party going with donations to Peaceful Ponies. These mini horses are dedicated to visiting individuals who may need an extra lift. The horses are trained to provide therapeutic and comforting visits to those who need it most.

May 5th - Silence the Shame Day

This month is Mental Health Month and this year is the first Silence the Shame Day. Text SILENCE to 707070 to engage in the conversation and work to destigmatize mental health. The nonprofit Silence the Shame is using Pledgeling’s text to donate feature for their first annual Text-A-Thon campaign to drive awareness around mental health.

May 8th - National Teacher Appreciation Day

Teachers foster learning in young minds around the world. Everyday should be a day to show our thanks to teachers, whether it’s a hug, card, or a smile! This year on National Teacher Appreciation Day say thanks by donating to DonorsChoose.org. Your $5 donation can provide stickers and coloring pencils for student mentors to give to new classmates.

May 6th-12th - Nurses Appreciation Week

National Nurses Week begins with National Nurses Day on May 6th and culminates on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday. This year’s theme is 'Inspire, Innovate, Influence' and highlights the many ways nurses care for us. The American Nurses Association aspires to transform the nation's health through the power of nursing. Show your appreciation for the nurses in your life by donating to the American Nurses Association.

May 13th - Mother’s Day

Moms hold a special place in our hearts every day, especially this day! Support new moms this Mother’s Day by donating to Baby2Baby. Baby2Baby provides diapers, clothing and basic necessities to low income children ages 0-12. For just $1 you can provide 10 diapers to babies in need. $20 can provide a pair of shoes, and $50 can provide a car seat to keep a little one safe. Does your mom have everything she needs? Make shopping easy by making a donation in her name this Mother’s Day.

May 18th - Endangered Species Day

Pandas, sea otters, gorillas, blue whales and tigers are all in danger of going extinct if we don’t take a stand for our endangered species. This Endangered Species Day educate yourself about the animals in your community and how to best care for them. If you live in a place with hummingbirds, make some simple hummingbird nectar (1 part sugar to 4 parts water) to help this threatened species out.

You can also donate to Discovery’s Project CAT (Conserving Acres for Tigers) in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund, committed to protecting natural habitats for wild tigers to help double the population by 2022. Did you know there are less than 4,000 tigers left in the wild?! Together we can change this! Text TIGER to 707070 to join the tiger conservation movement!

May 20th - National Dog Rescue Day

Today is National Dog Rescue Day! Not only are dogs amazing companions and friends, they also provide human health benefits by keeping owners active, reduce stress and can even help their owners make friends! Give your dog an extra hug today, or volunteer at your local animal shelter to share the love. You can also donate to the ASPCA. With a $5 donation, you can fund a week of meals for a rescued dog.

However you choose to celebrate, make it extra meaningful in May by using Pledgeling's tools & services to give back through your events & your business!
